[WowMailz] 8 Effective Cold Prevention Strategies

1. Wash your hands - The world we live in is filled with viruses and bacteria that can make us ill. Your hands are no exceptions. Wash your hands often to keep them clean. If you cannot wash them, at least use some hand sanitizer, such as Purel.

2. Drink hot fluids, especially in the morning - The rhinovirus incubates in the back of the throat and spreads in the upper respiratory area because it's cooler than the body temperature. Rhinovirus can't survive at 98.6 (hence it doesn't travel far down into the bronchi or the lungs). By drinking hot fluid (such as hot tea and lemon) you can prevent the virus from incubating.

3. Keep your hands out of your face - We have already discussed the germs and viruses on your hands. You cannot wash them continuously, so in between washings keep your hands out of your face. Your face is an open portal to your insides. Keep the germs away from your portal.

4. Drink water - Drinking more water is my answer to everything. Water will help clean out your body and keep it clean. It will also keep your body functioning at 100%. You should drink at least (eight) 8oz glasses of water everyday. This will also help you lose weight.

5. Eat your fruits and vegetables - There are phytochemicals and antioxidants in fruits and vegetables that can help strengthen your immune system and prevent diseases. You should eat at least four servings of vegetables and two servings of fruits every day.

6. Multivitamins - If you are not eating all of your fruit and vegetable servings, you should take a multivitamin to ensure you are getting all of the vitamins your body needs to function properly. Take a simple one-a-day multivitamin everyday.

7. Stay warm - Being cold weakens your immune system and makes your body more susceptible to illness. Look at the day's temperature at
weather.com before leaving your home. Wear layers in and out of your home when it is cold.

8. Relax and rest - Stress weakens your immune system. You can reduce your stress levels by relaxing and getting more sleep. Sleep is essential to maintaining a healthy immune system. Sleep will also boost your recovery time if you become ill.

Getting a cold can derail your nutrition and activity plans. However, if you follow the strategies I laid out for you, you can prevent this from happening.

Havelock Island is the most visited of the Andaman Islands. It's becoming popular for its pristine beaches, coral reefs and great scuba diving. Government Operated Ferries are always booked in advance its highly unlikely that you will get seats in these for the same day or the next day so plan your travel accordingly, rates are 250 for "Chair" class and 350 for "Seat" Class. These ferries are AC and can be booked in advance from the counter at the DSS in port Blair. See

Radhanagar Beach (Beach #7) is the most beautiful on the island and was rated as the best in Asia by Time in 2004. Gorgeous, silky white sand backed by a forest that provides welcome shade looks out over turquoise water, some stretches with a sandy bottom good for swimming and some with excellent coral reefs that are great for snorkeling – a great combination indeed.

Sunsets here are often spectacular and it's a popular time to be at the beach, but be careful not to miss the last trucks back if you're not staying here. A man with an elephant walks through the forest occasionally, offering rides for a fee. Buses run throughout the day until sunset, as do auto-rickshaws and shared 4 wheel-drive trucks. There are a few food shacks where the road hits the beach, all of which rent snorkels and fins.

Elephant Beach is further north from Radhanagar and is popular with Indian tourists. The shoreline here was largely swept away by the 2004 tsunami and the beach is a fraction of what it used to be; however, the coral here is probably the best on the island, making this an excellent spot for snorkeling. It's reachable on foot from Beach #7 or by fishing boat from the east side of the island; many resorts arrange snorkeling and diving trips here.

First time parents Joanne and Lee Jones had an extra surprise when their son Oliver was born - he had two front teeth

The 7lb 12oz youngster has two front incisors in his lower gums and doctors say the teeth may fall out and be replaced or stay in place as the first of his baby teeth.

Mr and Mrs James, from Haverhill, Cambridgeshire have been inundated with friends and family who are keen to see their firstborn's toothy smile.

Mrs James, a carer, said that they were delighted to have a healthy baby boy and added that his teeth were proving popular with visitors.

She said: 'Oliver is a very, very good baby and it was a complete surprise to see his teeth. They are not little stumps, they are proper teeth.

'It is not unknown for babies to be born with teeth, but it is extremely rare.

'It was quite comical in the hospital because everyone wanted to come and see Oliver's teeth when they heard about them.

THE WHOLE TOOTH

Baby's teeth begin to develop before they are born. However, they don't usually come through until they are aged between six months and one year old.

One in 2,000 babies is born with a tooth or two like Oliver.

The first to come through are usually the incisors - which are the four front teeth at the top and bottom of the jaw used for cutting and chopping food.

Many babies who are teething can be irritable as the teeth can cause pain as they come through.

Most children have a full set of 20 milk teeth by the time they're three years old. These teeth will start to fall out around the five year mark, making way for larger adult teeth.
