Since the time of fire, man has had arguments – rare or well done? Of course, arguments depend on your point of view, or in the case of husbands and wives, what the wife thinks. Some arguments are never-ending. Over the centuries, there have been some doozies that have kept philosophy students and teachers debating.

To be included on this list of Arguments That Can't Be Won, the argument must have no clear answer that cannot be countered with another opposing view.

Evolution or Creation?

Theologists and scientists have been arguing this one for centuries as well. The argument goes back to the time when organized religion was almost as powerful as the monarchies ruling countries. When people starting postulating that the Earth was not the center of the universe, it gave way to the rise in questioning the idea of a seven-day creation and God's role in creating the Earth. Enter Darwin and his Theory of Evolution and the debate truly kicks off with an unholy fevered pitch. Add in that there are many stories of creation across many different religions and your brain can really start to hurt.

Nature vs. Nurture

Does how you are raised affect your views as an adult more than what your genetic codes dictate? If your family has always been carpenters, are you destined to be a carpenter because of your genes or because of your familial upbringing? When identical twins are separated at birth and grow up to have identical tastes is that an argument that it has more to do with nature than nurture? However, is it nature to love spicy food, when that's all that your family and friends eat?

Gun control

It's not guns that kill people, it's the bullets. In America, citizens have a right to bear arms, which has proven to be dangerous for many other citizens and police over the centuries since the country's birth. On the other hand, large portions of the gun-toting population are careful citizens who have never crossed the law. Why should one group's rights to bear arms be stripped away because another group feels unsafe? Or why should they be allowed to bear those weapons of death among a land of peaceful citizens?

Euthanasia

Dr. Kevorkian helped many people commit suicide due to their health conditions and their desires. His motives were questioned because all life is supposedly precious, but his patients wanted to move on from their frail existence. What if those patients didn't have a say and we had the opportunity to choose whether they live in agony or die in peace by not giving them medication or a procedure? What is the better option?

The Death Penalty

Centuries ago, the prevalent rule of thumb was an eye for an eye, or in some cases, a life for a life. So the question becomes have we advanced far enough in our social and political structures to ban the death penalty? Or when is the death penalty justifiable? Is the death penalty appropriate for an accidental homicide? How about for a mass murderer?

Abortion or Pro-life?

Does a woman have the right to control her body by ending a life inside her? When is a fetus truly alive? Is all life truly precious? What happens when a woman is raped and becomes pregnant – is that life still precious? There may never be answers to these questions; however, the government has helped us out many times by entering its own opinion whether the pro-lifers like it or not.

Free will or Destiny?

The free will or destiny argument stems back to the Christian doctrine that God is omniscient and has seen everything that will happen. So if God can see everything that happens, is it free will or destiny that makes you choose to continue reading? Some have argued that God knows you will read this but you still have a choice. However, if the path is already apparent to one being, then the path has already been decided for you. However, that directly contradicts our everyday actions where we constantly make decisions – is something, a destiny foreseen by God, guiding us or are we truly free of the strictures of destiny?

Morals – Relative or Universal?

Like the question of gun control, whether ethics being morally relative or universal comes down to whether the good of the one outweighs the good of the many. If it is fine to sleep with another man's wife in one society but not in another, then the problem is that the morals are relative to the society or person. But why wouldn't it be universal that it is wrong to sleep with another man's wife or woman's husband in any society? Why is it OK to speed, when it is breaking the law? Shouldn't breaking any law be just as wrong? If you would never steal a person's purse, why would you pirate a DVD?

The chicken or the egg?

Perhaps one of the most fun arguments on this list, the chicken or the egg debate has raged for centuries mainly because it asks the questions does the animal evolve and then reproduce or was it hatched? That debate can then be transferred to our own existence, which leads into the argument of Evolution or Creation.

Does God Exist?

Since the dawn of recorded time, there have been people trying to prove that there is a higher being or beings that have caused the worlds and its creation. Organized religion comes down to having faith that there is a higher being and a place to go after death. Most people, if not already deeply religious in their life, find religion and start believing as they near their twilight years because they want to believe there is somewhere to go and someone to be with. So the question is how do you prove that god, in which ever religion you believe, exists?

[WowMailz] Caves Under Borneo

These incredible images show British scientists on an expedition to map a 'never-ending' cave network in a project that dates back more than 30 years.

The twisting network of caverns underneath Gunung Mulu National Park, in Sarawak, Borneo, contains the largest cave chamber in the world, the largest cave by volume and what is believed to be the largest cave passage.

Scientists carry out bi-annual visits into several caves and have so far mapped out an incredible 186 miles of the underground network.

Making a splash: Expedition leader Tim Allen inspects the 'Shower Head' - a calcium-formed funnel which transports rain water from the surface into caves underneath Gunung Mulu National Park, in Sarawak, Borneo

Using lasers and other equipment they measured the dimensions of different sections of the numerous caverns stretching throughout the UNESCO World Heritage site and feed them into a computer to build up the map.

Working with Borneo's National Parks authority, the team of Brits also began mapping the area above the caves to help tourists trekking between the cave mouths know where they are.

Cavernous: Deer Cave is home to more than three million bats and is believed to be the largest cave passage in the world

Croc Lady's family snaps: The amazing pictures of a nurse who lives with three pet crocodiles ... and her 16-year-old son

It's not unusual for pet-owners to wake up with their animal at the end of the bed.

It happens to 16-year-old Andrew Lowing quite often because his mother Vicki lets her three prized pets have the run of their house.

The only difference is that Johnie, Fovian and Jilfia are crocodiles.

But Vicki - nicknamed Croc Lady in Melbourne - isn't worried that Andrew might become breakfast in bed for the giant reptiles because they have lived together so long she believes the beasts are now fully domesticated.

The 53-year-old nurse has kept crocodiles for more than 30 years and even claims she can communicate telepathically with 14-year-old Johnie, a 1.5 metre (5ft) freshwater female who weighs 12kg.

'I'm convinced crocs are psychic,' said Vicki, stating a belief that is often put forward in Australia. 

'They don't look like they do much but there's a lot going on behind those eyes.

'Johnie is definitely psychic. The way she looks at me sometimes, I know she's trying to tell me things.

'She has definitely communicated with me telepathically. It usually happens when she feels a bit crook and she wants me to know she needs some extra TLC.

'I get a shiver like I've seen a ghost and I know she's trying to get through to me.

'I've had Johnie the longest and she's very domesticated. She and Andrew used to compete as youngsters for attention.

'If Johnie ever thought he was getting too much attention from she'd pinch his toys and hide them.

'When I tell her off she goes into a corner and sulks. She can be a real madam.'

Competing for attention with her son and her oldest pet are cranky saltwater creature Jilfia and her little snapper Fovian.

Three-year-old Jilifia is 2.4 metres (8ft) long and weighs 30kg, meaning it is already the size of a ten year old.

Vicki admits to keeping her distance from Jilfia because the saltwater snapper has a nastier temper than the others.

Vicki doesn't actually know if Jilfia is a boy or a girl because crocodiles crocs don't have external sex organs and their sex can't usually be determined until they have an examination at the age of five.

Lounge lizard: Each of the two oldest creatures have their own water tanks and sunlamps

The baby of the trio is freshwater Fovian, who at 45cm long and just 4kg in weight is so small he - or she - lives in the bath.

Johnie and Jilfia have their own separate ponds because, being territorial creatures, they are liable to take chunks out of each other, which means when one is in the bedroom, another is in the lounge and the other is in the bathroom.

Each have their own heaters and sunlamps to maintain their body heat at a constant 25 to 30 degrees C, which is essential to keep them healthy and active, but they are also allowed to wander freely around Vicki's bungalow.

Explaining her fascination with the creatures, Vicki said: 'I watched a movie called An Alligator Named Daisy back in the 1960s and from then on I was hooked.

'Mum got me a snake at four and I got my first croc at 22.

'People who know me say I'm the Croc Lady. I don't mind.

'I look after them properly and they're well cared for. They get the best chicken meat to eat and all the health care they need.

'My girl friends were shocked at first but they've gradually gotten used to them. Apart from when they take over the bathroom. There have been a few screams when people go to the loo.

'I don't think I'll run out of space for them here at home and if I do I'll move into a bigger place.

Are we there yet? The creatures are as welcome in the family car as they are at home

'I'm going to have crocs 'til the day I die, for sure.'

Amazingly, despite Johnie nipping her a decade ago while ill, there have been no injuries from the notorious predators.

Vicki admits neighbours keep their distance when she takes her pets for walks but on the plus side she has never had problems with burglars.

Perhaps the biggest problem it presents for the Lowing family is that it tends to scare off Andrew's girlfriends.

'The crocs don't really bother Andrew but they certainly bother his friends and girlfriends,' said Vicki.

'The latest girlfriend did a runner as soon as she saw Johnie, which was a bit unfortunate.'
