India were not the best side when it came to  chasing totals but Sachin Tendulkar accepted the challenge and blasted  Shoaib Akhtar and Co to all parts of Super Sport Park in Centurion to  score a masterly 98. Had it not been for an attack of cramps, Tendulkar  would have scored his first WC ton.

Tendulkar was made to wait for his century of  international centuries. After four reprieves - on 27, 45, 70 and 81 -  he was out for 85. He also had an LBW decision over-turned. But he  soldiered on manfully on a pitch which was not easy for batters. He  earned yet another man of the match award.
